Community forums scheduled to seek feedback about BCPS school facilities
Wednesday, October 22, 2014, 6:30 p.m, at New Town High School
As BCPS continues examining long-term planning to accommodate growth, the school system is committed to incorporating stakeholder viewpoints in its planning process. To do so, five community forums have been scheduled to gather public priorities related to the needs of both existing and future physical facilities.
 

PTA Family Fall Fest

Thursday, October 23 - 6:30 p.m.
Join the PTA for a fun family night. Activities include face painting, pumpkin painting, line dancing, food, 50/50 raffle, goodie bags & giveaways. RSVP is required for attendance.  A flyer will be sent home with your Scholar.

Half Day - End of First Quarter

Friday, October 31
School will end at noon.  This half day of school will be provided to allow teachers to work on report cards.

Half Day – Professional Development
Monday, November 1
School will end at noon.  This half day of school will occur to allow teachers to participate in professional development.

School Closed – Election Day
Tuesday, November 2
All schools will be closed due to elections.

Magnet School Applications (Grades 5 & 8)
Deadline to apply:
Students in grades 5 and 8 received magnet applications for middle and high school magnet programs.  You can also get information, including application information, by going to www.bcps.org/offices/omp.  Please contact Ms. Laurent or the magnet office if you have any questions.

Bookfair

October 13-16

The bookfair is here!  You and the students can purchase books at the school and online.  To volunteer to assist, even for an hour, please contact Ms. Hayes in the library.

8th Grade – ReadiStep Assessment

Thursday, October 16

The  ReadiStep assessment is aligned with the PSAT and SAT.  These assessments are administered by the College Board and are used by many colleges as a part of college acceptance.  The ReadiStep is an opportunity for 8th and 9th grade students to become familiar with the format and practice for the SAT.  The results are also used by the school to provide support for a student.

School Closed – Professional Development Day

Friday, October 17  (BCPS Calendar has the wrong date.  It is Friday.)
